  • Does not address style, tone, plot, characterization, etc.
     

  • Conforms to guidance found in the current editions of the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster's dictionary
     

  • May be best for authors who have already had beta readers and done self-editing
     

  • Special requests, such as heavy fact- or source-checking or checking for continuity within a series, may result in additional fees

LINE EDITING

Starting at $0.013 / word

  • Includes everything in a copy edit and also addresses issues of style, tone, and flow at the sentence and paragraph level and may make light suggestions for characterization, dialogue, etc.
     

  • Includes delivery of an editorial letter summarizing the edits and suggestions
     

  • Does not make "overhaul" suggestions for changing large elements of plot, characterization, structure, tense, point of view, etc.
     

  • Conforms to guidance found in the current editions of the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster's dictionary
     

  • May be best for authors who are generally happy with their work but think it needs a bit more polish
     

  • Special requests, such as heavy fact- or source-checking or checking for continuity within a series, may result in additional fees

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING

Starting at $0.01 / word

  • Focuses solely on the "big picture" issues to give you recommendations for how to fix issues with plot, characterization, dialogue, structure, tense, point of view, etc.
     

  • Includes delivery of an editorial letter summarizing the edits and suggestions
     

  • Does not fix grammar, punctuation, flow, clarity, or any other text-level issues
     

  • May be best for authors who feel their story or structure is missing something and need help identifying the issues holding their writing back

PROOFREADING

Starting at $0.009 / word

  • One final check to catch issues with spelling, grammar, punctuation, redundancy, continuity, and clarity (like a copy edit of your copy edit). If the manuscript is in its final/formatted/PDF form, also includes a check for formatting issues.
     

  • Does not address style, tone, plot, characterization, etc.
     

  • Conforms to guidance found in the current editions of the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster's dictionary
     

  • Suitable ONLY for manuscripts that have had a previous copy edit 
     

  • Special requests, such as heavy fact- or source-checking or checking for continuity within a series, may result in additional fees
